The cornerstone of our implementation and upgrade methodology is the project plan. The project plan includes a detailed assessment of the scope. It identifies all activities necessary for a successful implementation/upgrade, establishes schedules, identifies deliverables, and delineates resources and responsibilities of all team members. After completing the project plan, the team embarks on the implementation/upgrade. Implementation starts with prototyping, which includes a fit/gap analysis, thorough system design and configuration, extensive testing, and transition to production. Throughout the process, ESG works diligently with the customer to achieve maximum knowledge transfer.
Our methodology is based on several critical concepts:
» |
Solid planning for establishing clear roles and responsibilities and project milestones; |
» |
Functional user participation in all phases of the project; |
» |
Continual knowledge transfer resulting in client self-sufficiency; |
» |
Focus on emphasizing delivered functionality and minimizing modifications; and |
» |
Multiple testing stages and test cycles to ensure appropriate quality control. |

As outlined in this diagram, the major phases of ESG’s methodology are: Planning, Design, Build, Test and Deploy, and Production Support. These major phases consist of a number of related activities. For each phase, a number of tasks, assumptions, and deliverables are identified as appropriate for that phase.
ESG recommends using a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) for project work. Good requirements are the foundation of any successful project, and a sound requirements traceability management process minimizes project risk, reduces scope creep, insures completeness of design and build activities, insures thoroughness of testing and system acceptance, and reduces the cost of configuration management after deployment. ESG’s RTM is based on the use of flexible templates, which allows the approach to be tailored to your needs. ESG brings to every engagement a wide variety of project tools and templates based on industry best practices that we have honed from our 500+ assignments. These templates and job aids have been designed to support and interact with the RTM.
