Enterprise Solutions Group's Go-Live at the Educational Testing Service Successful Print
Wednesday, 26 January 2005 14:05

ESG has successfully brought another major PeopleSoft customer live as of January 3, 2005. The Educational Testing Service (ETS) engaged ESG in March 2004 to take over their PeopleSoft implementation from another professional services firm. The implementation (referred to as Project Thrive) encompassed four PeopleSoft modules, in addition to simultaneously upgrading several others across three PeopleSoft product pillars: Financials, Supply Chain, and HRMS. The modules in scope of ETS's Project Thrive included version 8.4 of General Ledger, Projects, Contracts, Payables, Purchasing, Billing, Receivables, Inventory, Order Management, Cost Management, and Production Management; version 8.8 of HR, Benefits Administration, Payroll, and Time & Labor.

Simultaneously required within this effort was the management of internal reorganizations, open enrollment, implementation of a Cognos-based budgeting solution, retirement of old financial coding structures, interaction with an internal independent test organization, and significant change management and training activities.

The ESG team provided a full array of functional, technical, and management skills that allowed the project to be completed on schedule and within 3% of the estimated budget. Project Thrive is widely viewed within ETS as one of the most successful internal projects ever achieved. Based on our success on Project Thrive, ESG has both been awarded a full-service application outsourcing contract as well as being invited to provide additional implementation services for new initiatives in 2005.

Perhaps Bruce Shaffer, ESG’s Engagement Manager for ETS, summed up Project Thrive’s success best: “ESG, once again, demonstrated its ability to quickly and successfully implement a complex PeopleSoft solution for a large, established customer. ESG's ability to apply a combination of our deep product knowledge, extensive experience, flexible methodology, and experience-based tools, was key to this success. However, without the ESG staff's long hours, dedication, professionalism, and an unparallel drive to succeed, this project could not have been successful. ETS has expressed that they have not experienced a project this complex that has been implemented this successfully in their history – another demonstration of the talent that makes ESG one of the top implementer in the industry."
